Welcome to 664 SQUADRON!

Do you want to meet new friends?

Do you like to try new challenges?

Do you like to have fun?

Join us and become an Air Cadet!

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO JOIN?
Cadets must be between the ages of 12-18 to join.

WHAT IS THE COST TO JOIN?
Nothing, there is no cost to join! Most costs are covered including uniforms, weekend trips and summer camps.

WHAT DO THE 664 AIR CADETS DO?
664 Cold Lake parades (meets) on a weekly basis every Tuesday at the Art Smith Aviation Academy located on 4 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake. On these nights we learn a variety of skills such as citizenship, teamwork, leadership, drill (marching), range, sports and flying. Usually the older cadets and Staff teach the younger cadets the skills necessary to advance in the Cadet Program. Besides these weekly meetings, we also go on various weekend activities throughout the year doing things like outdoor survival training, flying days, sports, drill and range competitions. Being in a Cadet Squadron gives you the opportunity to try new things and meet friends who share the same interests as you. Many cadets meet life-long friends in the program.

WHAT KIND OF EXTRA ACTIVITIES CAN I DO AS A CADET?
There are tons of extra things you can do with 664 Squadron outside of Regular Training Nights. For musicians, we have a band which practices every Sunday and performs throughout the year. We also have a Drill Team which also practices on Sundays and participates in competition and demos at our ACR. For people who enjoy sports, we have a Biathlon team (Biathlon is a combination of Skate style Cross Country Skiing and shooting…just like at the Olympics) that participates in competitions with other Units. For the Outdoor types we send a team to SurvivAir, a weekend Survival skills competition held in the Rocky Mountains. We also have a Range Team (Marksmanship) who practice every Sunday and participate in Regional Competitions and we also put together various sports teams for a yearly province wide sports competition.

IS THERE ANY OPPORTUNITY FOR TRAVELING AS A CADET?
YES!!!
Every summer, cadets from 664 Squadron go to summer camps which are located all over the country. There is no cost to go and they run from 2-8 weeks long depending on what camp you apply for. When you have been in the Cadet program long enough, you have the option to work at one of these camps and make some good coin! At Summer Camps you learn a lot of new skills and meet a lot of great cadets! Our squadron also plans to do some travelling throughout the province and Canada. We are looking at a trip overseas in the near future!
